adding custom 3D parts from vendor to 3D plant drawing

I'm relativly new to Plant 3D , I have created a fully "smart" P&ID in the p&ID software, with part number and mfg info no problem. I can place all of the lines and parts and valves using the "place" function from the line list. the problem is arrising from the request to place a "true" 3D representation of the each different valve using the vendors 3D files in place of the basic "gate" valve.

I have the 3D file what I need to know is how to insert it so that it begins acting and thinking like a "valve" so i can use the validate function and constrain pipe ends too the 3D part. I also need the part to show up properly in the BOM.
