Creating Pipe Saddles

I was trying to create a pipe saddle for fibreglass piping. I thought the easiest way was to modify an olet so that one end is BELL and the other is something. I was going to chance it to BELL but that did not seem right.

What should my end types be so that it connects to the pipe.

What John provided is pretty similiar to what I have but I've attached a couple of files. One showing what the saddle could look like but I don't have the bushing added to it. The other attachment is a shot from the Bondstrand catalog.

If there isn't a good way to make this work then a Custom Part may be the way to go.

Thanks for the help.

All I did to make saddles work was use an OLET fitting and changed the dimensions a bit to try to get the rough size.

It's not perfect by any means, but it got the job done.

btrevena thanks. We have created a clamp saddle by following the work flow you had shared.

It needed a lot of trial and error as well 🙂

@Anonymous Would you care to elaborate on your port settings and catalog end types in order to get this to work?

I am currently creating a strap-on type instrument that uses a pipe clamp. The blocks have been made, converted and a port added at the center of the clamp facing down. What is stumping me is the connection types to get it to connect to the pipe. Any help would be appreciated.

Everything is in the Bruce Trevena 's presentation handout found here:

http://au.autodesk.com/au-online/classes-on-demand/class-catalog/classes/year-2014/autocad-plant-3d/...

Pages 16, 17, 18, 19 will take you there.

P.S:

In the Catalog Editor, "Iso Symbol Type": OLET

Iso Symbol SKEY: whateveryounameit. It has to be the same both in catalog editor and in isoconfig file

I've gotten it to work, but there needs to be two ports. I'd rather not have to split the instrument into two pieces, but it seems as if creating it with just one port will not work.

Thoughts?

I did not try but I think one port should also work, like a pipe support clamp.

For instrument connections we like to keep the saddle and the instrument separate unless the instrument comes as a single unit with the saddle part.

It is a 6 year old link @filiph.sandberg , the presentation is even from 2014 judging from the link. It is normal for it to not work. I think this is the presentation mentioned, if not a similar one:

This forum has been very useful for many of us, no need to be harsh

I think Autocad have some resposibility making sure these threads have a solution to them.
There are of no use for anyone otherwise.
