Has anyone else had issues with the drawing crosshair cursor dissapearing in ACAD P&ID 2102? I can get mine to disspear semi-consistently which means I have to close and reopen the drawing, then it comes back. All I have to do in order to make it dissapear most of the time is hit ESC more than once, especially after panning or zooming (by hitting ESC or ENTER once after using the PAN or ZOOM, I get the crosshair back) I thought that I solved the problem by hitting ENTER instead to get away from the Pan or Zoom cursor but alas, that seems to be semi-consistent at getting the cursor to dissapear too. I realize the short answer is 'dont hit ESC or ENTER more than once' but Im just wondering what the deal might be... my machine or others too?
Is there some other way to return to crosshair cursor safely after using the Pan or Zoom toolbar buttons?
PS - I turned off hardware acceleration in settings, just to check, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
Yes, this seems to heappen with multiple viewports, either in PS or MS. One one occasion I had to restart, but most of the time switching layouts or from model to paperspace works. I've read it is a Windows 7 problem, but it also occurs on XP and Vista. I've lost billiable time on the problem so it does need a fix.
I had seen some other posts about this problem in the past and really had hoped it would have been fixed in SP1 that was released last week, but alas, it was not. It is a seemingly small problem but when it happens every 3 minutes, it becomes a very large problem.
This issue has been reported to development and they are looking into a solution. Can you reply back and let us know what type of video card you are using along with the driver version?
Also, I wanted to ask if you typically have the menu bar turned on or off while using P&ID. I have been able to reproduce this issue on my workstation by switching the menu bar on and off over and over and eventually I lose the crosshairs.
Your case is a bit different due to the fact that you can get the crosshairs to reappear. Typically it requires closing and opening the drawing to bring it back.
Im running a Dell M6500 Precision Laptop
NVIDIA Quadro FX-3800M
Driver Version 22.214.171.12462 10/15/2011
Also, I have not been able to get my cursor back without closing and reopening the drawing, that was dgrant775 post.
In my case the crosshair and cursor disappear only when I'm in a viewport. I can bring it back after changing to model space by hovering over the small [-] on the top left hand corner. Never needed to re-open a drawing.
This is still an issue with me in 2012, but I did notice one way that I can make the issue dissapear completely, all I have to do is to use an external mouse rather than the touchpad on my Dell M6500. If I do that, the crosshair never seems to dissapear. Strange.
Im going to 2013 next week so hopefully the issue just dissapears completely. :-)
WIth 2013 we are still seeing (or rather not seeing) the dissapearing crosshairs on a fairly regualr basis. It seems to be an issue in the base Autocad platform rather than just Plant3D or P&ID, I have seen it in vanillar Autocad and other verticals.
Sometimes mousing over 'Viewport Controls' in the upper left works, sometimes it doesnt.
It happed last week in training as well, on the VAR's machine. Our Workstations are Dell T3500 with Nvidia Quattro 2000 & 4000, latest ACAD approved drivers. The VAR's workstations were Dell T1500.
Yep, I've got the menubar always turned on.
I've just changing to version 2013 doesn't help as it happens there as well.
Should we now rename the 'cursor' to 'Curser'?
my crosshairs disapprear in paperspace constantly. especially if i work on model space then switch to paperspace. the only way i have found to fix is to shut down autocad. i am using rel 2013 full version cad.
very time consuming and aggrevating.
