Text at zero elevation

Am I the only one that hate this...
Text that is not at zero elevation looks bold/fuzzy on the screen and in print.
I have to make sure that all of my tag blocks, annotations, leaders are at zero elevation... those things tend to snap to the elevation of the item you are pointing at. Ductwork, ceiling grids, equipment etc... are rarely ever at zero elevation. I spend several minutes per day fixing just this so that drawings look professional.
Either there is a setting I'm missing... or this needs to be fixed.... I shouldn't have to concentrate on silly things like moving leaders to zero... which by the way is a PITA because first you have to figure out what elevation it is sitting at and then move it using the move command. There is no "elevation" variable in their properties.
