Does anyone have or know of a list of things that are in the ABS2004
templates that where not in the release 3.0 templates?

Hi John -

There really is no such list. The templates for 2004 didn't even start with
the R3 templates, they started with the ADT2004 templates. Some of the stuff
from the R3 templates were then incorporated into the new template.

I can tell you that the display configurations and layout tabs changed
massively. Most of the system definitions changed minorly (and I'm not sure
that's a word, but you get the idea).

So you recommend that I redo my templates starting with the ABS2004
templates just to be safe.
We have our own layout tabs and usually only use the 1 line and two line
display reps

Hi John -

Yes, that would be safer, but it would also be more work 😞

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything that would cause you to
not be able to use the R3 templates in 2004.

Jason
I have my layers, systems, layout tabs, elevations as well all my drawing
preferences set in my templates(R3)
I am able to import the new display reps (2004) into them, can you think of
anything else I might need that is specific to 2004
thanks

Hi John -

Being the creator of the R3 templates, I am still rather fond of them and
use them all the time in ABS 2004 with few ill-effects. However, the real
changes between ABS 2004 and ABS 3 happened with the base platforms AutoCAD
and ADT. With regard to that functionality, there will be significant
changes since the ABS 3 templates are based on ADT 3.0 templates. A lot has
changed...

You may want to investigate deleting as much of the Architectural content
from your ABS 3 template and then inserting into the ADT 2004 template
"Architectural Building Model and View". Before you do, however, be sure to
delete the xxxx_plot view tabs in the ABS 3 templates. In ABS/ADT 2004,
these settings are segregated into a separate template that you will want to
use when creating sheets in drawing manager.

Good luck!

Hi Peter
Why do you use the "Architectural Building Model and View" template instead
of the Aecb Mechanical/Plumbing /Electrical templates
thanks
John

Hi John -

Sorry for the delay. I suggested that you use the Architectural template
since I assumed that all your building systems content is already configured
in the ABS 3 template. Since the ABS 2004 template contains many of the
same systems and content, you may find it much harder to figure out what to
replace and what to remain the same.

In other words, I would update my ABS 3 template by :

- Removing as much as the architectural content from it as I could since
this has all significantly changed since ADT 3.0.
- Removing the plot view tabs - now handled by drawing management..
- Inserting it into the Architectural ADT template since this template
reflects the significant changes made in both ADT and ACAD. We have always
based our templates on the ADT templates since we expect that folks would
want to see and have controls for the entire building.
- Manually updating any systems, settings , and controls that may need to
change based on improvements/changes to ABS 2004 (not sure what would need
to change).

I hope this helps!
