Select objects & Previous Selection Set

When you run a command that prompts to Select Objects. AutoCAD stores the user selected objects in it's Previous Selection Set.

Right (I think only if the command is not canceled)?

Apparrently there are some commands that seem to select objects that do not seem to store them in the 'Previous' selection set.

One in particular, and the subject of this post is QSELECT.

If I run QSELECT... on Block References for instance... when you click OK button to select them, the command line reports how many are selected... and shows their Grips (if the number of objects are not in excess of GRIPOBJLIMIT). At this point, I typically run the 'SELECT' command to get them into the Previous Selection Set.

e.g. If there is not another command ran on the QSelected Objects, they are not stored in Previous Selection Set.

Can someone confirm this behaviour?

Hi mdhutchinson,

You are correct, there are some instances where the Selection>Previous option will be cleared. For example, if you select 4 objects and then delete one, that selection set is cleared from memory. Also, if you switch spaces, for example, make a selection in Model space, then switch to Paper space, the previous selection is ignored.

Regarding, QSELECT, you will have to peform a command on that selection set for it to be included in the Select>Previous memory. If I make a selection of blocks, and then hit ESC, they will not be included in the Selection>Previous memory. But, if I were to Move, Copy, etc. that selection of blocks, and then run Select>Previous (or some other command with the P filter) then that group of blocks will be selected.
