Rogue sections

I am having issues with a file that contains mostly piping and "exploded" sections of this piping. I cut sections of the piping in 4 directions then exploded the sections so I can modify the linework due to the custom parts that I wanted to show and clean up minor discrepancies. I also deleted the section marks that cut the sections so I don't have any residual section information, or so I thought.

The issues are:
-It takes a 20 minutes to open
-It takes a VERY long time to go from model space to a layout.
-When I go to cut a new section to update information that I changed I can see the outline box of the old sections when I'm prompted for the location of the new section.

I'm afraid that these "ghost" sections are disrupting the performance of the file. Any help would be appreciated, I'll attach the file when I get a chance.

If you open up the view dialog are the sections listed? if so delete them.

Have you tried all the different purge and audit methods in and out of ABS?

Have you tried to old favorite wblock?

I hope this helps. See you at AU
