R13 Nightmares - How 'bout core Acad and MEP 2013?

My experience?... in R13  , we jumped right on the new software the second it was released... before we realized it, we lost 20 grand worth of drawing files... all un-recoverable. It was unfortunate that we were between backup systems - not certain this would have helped anyway.

I am certain their are many others that choose to wait - at least for - SP1 before moving to the new release. It is risky to move before this... (my vote may not count... Management may force the move as soon as 3rd party software comes)

So how is core AutoCAD and AutoCAD MEP for soundness?

I wonder what others think? Should I try and hold the line on making the move until SP1 - or - make the move and deal with the risk as it comes?
