I am very new to the programming and I would like to know what books I need to start reading to get myself prepared for the programming side of CAD. I mostly use AutoCAD MEP 2010.
Thanks,
TTW

Anything .NET related... I've been a fan of books from Wrox press and Apress. Jerry Winters has an AutoCAD .NET specific book, but I personally have never seen it myself. AutoCAD also supports LISP and VBA, but .NET is the preferred API, especially when considering AutoCAD MEP (VBA and LISP are quite limited for MEP).
To be effecitve at programming against AutoCAD MEP, you need to be strong at programming against AutoCAD
To be effective at programming against AutoCAD, you will need a good basis in .NET
I've attached a class I did at Autodesk University several years ago... versions have changed, but the general concepts all still apply... it may be helpful at getting you going.
