plumbing slope issue

I am running into another potential issue with the plumbing package. I draw
a sanitary main thru the bldg. I add a branch to this main. If the branch
gets extended, so as to make it the longer run, the slope in the main does
not change to match. In other words, the final invert does not change. The
slopes of the branch change appropraitely and if I shorten/lengthen the main
its slope changes appropriately. But, they do not talk to each other at the
connection point. Is there some way to make the plumbing lines a "system"
to avoid this problem?
