Pipe Layout Preferences

Could someone help me on adding more options to Pipe Layout Preferences.

I have copied and modified a Pipe UK catalogue to only show Copper Pipe in
the Tube section. This seems to work OK.

My problem is when I go to set up my pipe layout preferences I am faced with
Brazed as being the jointing method, whereas I would like to have the
options of Soldered and Compression.

Is there some way of adding this in either the Part Group Definition or
Connection Type.

Attached is an Image of the dialog box.

Regards

Rob

of connection types in the domain (pipe, duct, cable tray, conduit, etc.)
specific *.apc file.  For example,
let’s say you need to create an MvPart with pipe connection with a connection
type of “Compression.” In this case, open your pipe catalog using Internet
Explorer, notepad, XML-Spy, or some other xml editing tool.

Scroll down several pages into the file
until you see something like the following:

<ConnectionTypeEnum>Undefined_Connection_Type</ConnectionTypeEnum>

Add the
desired connection type from the list at the bottom of the listed connection
types but before the </ConnectionTypeSet> as
follows:

style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">

style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">
style="mso-tab-count: 1">
<ConnectionTypeEnum>Compression</ConnectionTypeEnum>

The next
time you go to create fittings, the connection type will be there.
style="mso-spacerun: yes">
It will also be there in the dialog you
asked about.  Note, this list does
NOT get cleaned out and created every time a catalog regen is done.

To be
rigorous, in addition to adding it to the apc file, the connection type also
should to be added to the template file under Shared Content (used as a blank
catalog when creating new catalogs) so that this connection type is in any new
catalog you may create.

Another
option would be to delete the entire list inside that catalog (between
<ConnectionTypeSet> and </ConnectionTypeSet>.
style="mso-spacerun: yes">
That would give you the entire
connection type list to choose from (even those that are inappropriate for that
domain, ie., Vanstone Flange in a pipe domain).

A little
messy

Note - if you use XML-Spy or other XML formatting
applications, the list of connection types will appear in a column of
cells.  Just append the new entry(ies) to the
column.

Peter

Many Thanks for your reply. I have carried out the changes
to the Pipe UK.apc, however I am still missing something.

The connection now appears in the list of available
connectors, but it is not linked to the material type Tube. The
only type that is, is the Brazed connection which was in the original
settings.

Also the list of connector types in your email, are they
default settings within BS3 and can they be added to?

Regards

Rob
