PDF -> CAD

Can anyone recommend a good piece of software to convert PDF to DWG?

I'm interested in converting a Tax Map that is a vector out of a CAD drawing (that I cant get my hands on)... I've tried 2 shareware products and they do a "decent" job but its not as good as I've heard some software can be

thanks

I've tried their trial and it doesn't really work as desired. There is an extreme lack of options in their software.

I do recall one particular software that allowed you to decide how it interpreted certain objects and lines and also gave you the option to provide a REAL scale for the drawing.

I know this is more involved, but what we do is convert the pdf to a black
and white tiff and then use a raster to vector program. There are some
really good ones out there depending on what you want to spend. This allows
us to scale the pdf to the correct scale etc. More work, but better
results.

yea... ive done that in the case of a non-vector PDF... in this case the PDF isnt a scan its a direct export of a CAD document... So IDK if converting vector -> raster -> vector is a good solution

wanna give my PDF a shot?

I don't have a very good raster to vector program, so I know you wouldn't be
satisfied. I was only giving a possible solution if you wanted to spend the
money. My raster to vector just gives the same color lines for thickness
etc. but there are raster to vector that can read thickness, color etc.
Pricey though. Also, the lines aren't very sharp, due to the price we paid.
I bought the program about 8 years ago for 100.00. An old Scan2Cad seat.

Sorry, I can't help you with your conversion.

Autodesk has a raster to vector program, I think it's called Raster Design. Personally, I use Coreldraw which, admittedly, doesn't do a great job but I usually only use the file for existing backgrounds. I also use Ghostscript to convert PDF's to DXF. Once again, it doesn't come out well but it makes a great starting point for details and it does a good enough job for backgrounds.

Just another suggestion
convert pdf to a tiff file, then import it in as an image file.
this works for details.
