Parametric Curb

Hi,

I am modeling a parametric curb with variable pitch and have run into two
problems.

1) The current version of the curb works fine if an existing part size is
used, however if a custom size is created in the add part filter dialog the
modeler does not produce the custom size on screen. The part props. will
show the custom size but the display geometry is wrong. What could cause
this?

2) If you open the above part (ECV.dwg) in content builder and try to add
geometry on the "left plane" work plane, to create a custom profile, short
line lengths can not be created. An example of the profile I'm trying to
create is shown in the plain autocad file named "Profile Problem.dwg". Why
can I not create the side with the 1" dimension?

As you can see I have overcome #2 by changing the modeling in the part file
but I am curious as to why I can not create the profile as indicated.

The drawing files have been uploaded to customer files under the subject
"Parametric Curb"

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Shane

Hi

2. It's an easy 'fix'. As soon as you get within 1" of another point in CB
it will automatically snap to that point. This behavior can be switch off by
using the command ColPointSnap

Hi,

Regarding issue 1:

When I tested the part I didn't get the predefined sizes to work. Try insert
a size where the width = 43 ", it will come in with a width of 19.5"........

Further analyze of the part shows that the dimensions for LenA1 and LenA2
(RH1 and RW1) for some odd reason isn't updated with the new values. Most
likely due to some conflicting dimension or constraints

The extrusion of the 'Sloped profile' seem to behave correctly but the main
body don't.

Hi Lars

I have solved the problem. LenA1 & LenA2 were dimensioning the profile used
to create the main extrusion while RH1 & RW1 were dimensioning the connector
for that extrusion this appears to be the cause of the problem even though
the equations set RH1=LenA2 and RW1=LenA. May be a bug?

Thanks for the help.

Lars-Ake

Thanks for the fix. That one has been troubling me for a while.

If only # 1 could be that easy.
