NavisWorks tutorial ???(video or image supported)

Is there a tutorial to master NavisWorks? Supported by video would be great.

Sorry, the way I learned was by sitting in on meetings where someone who was really really good using Navis was running the show.

It seems pretty intuitive though, any thing in particular that you want to know about?

I don't think you can "master" any program via tutorials.

You see I work for a small firm and they are not going to get someone to help us learn the program. Believe it or not I learned ABS using only tutorial with in 4 month and I am the guru for our firm. Anyway to start with, I need to know how to import file to the Navisworks ( All MEP files). To be clear I am starting from zero

First off, make sure all your drawings you are trying to combine have the same insertion point. and I usually make sure that all of these files do not have any xrefs attached.

Open your drawing in Navis. Now go to FILE--> MERGE and then select the files you want to include, and they should all load right up.

So do I have to change my drawings to DWF first, because I could not open a DWG file in Navis. Also is it a must to bind all files?
Thank you in advance

Navis opens DWG files for me, it seems like it will open just about any type of file, you might want to check the box that says file type in the open dialog so it says all files, instead of whatever it is defaulting to.

It will load your DWG file and any XREFs that are loaded in that DWG file, the reasoon I merge each file with no xrefs is so I can select them individually for clash detection.

Sir,
Attached is the error message I got when I try to attach a DWG file. .. I have "NavisWorks freedom 2009' which is a trial free version. Maybe it does not have the full plugins.

I think that Freedom is limited to viewing only NWF files that are files created in a full version of Navis. It is basically a reader only. You would need to have someone output your drawing to a NWF file and send it to you.

You can find a lot of help on the [AUGI NavisWorks Forum|http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=6089738&tstart=0#6089738]

The help file is very in depth, there are good tutorials on [Autodesk Subscription|http://www.autodesk.com/subscriptionlogin] if you subscribe.

You can also find good classes at [AU Online|http://au.autodesk.com/?extrafield=ms_description&allwords=1&nd=m_asearch&akeywords=navisworks]

How do you ensure that the insertion point is the same on the files? I am trying to insert a file from Revit Architecture and Revit Structure but I can not seem to get them lined up without a lot of work. All of the tutorials and such I find they seem to just line up as they bring them in.

To ensure your models are aligned I highly suggest seeing the BYU tutorial.  http://cmfac.groups.et.byu.net/miller/cm411/help/navisworks/Navis11.php  Granted, I am biased as I wrote the tutorial when I was still going to school there, but it still holds true.  If you have additional questions feel free to contact me.  michaelnsmith86@gmail.com In general, the best way is to ensure your origins truely are in the same location.  Revit origins are actually arbitrary where they are formed initially.  If you are using a normal CAD system, ensure your ucs is set to the Revit origin.
