Enter command AecDwgSetup
On Layer tab, set Layer Key Style to
Of course, this affects all MEP (and ACA) objects.

You can, of course, define your own conduit systems to use whatever layers you want (and even define your own systems). So, you don't necessarily have to use the out-of-the-box MEP standards, but rather implement your own.

M.S.

I hate to stay in the ice age, but that's where I dwell for now.  Can you please tell me why, when I draw  a new conduit (AutoCAD MEP 2013), specifying system "Cndt-Power", it automatically puts the conduit on layer "E-Cndt-Pwr"?  In the Style Manager-->Electrical System Definitions-->Cndt Power-->Design Rules tab,  the layer key is defined as "E-SY-WIRE-POWER", with a Major Override Value "-Cndt".  I'm trying to understand where in my settings AutoCAD is being told to use layer "E-Cndt-Pwr" as the default for conduit drawn in the Cndt-Power system...

Thanks for your help!

I figured it out.  The Layer Key has a layer associated with it "E-Wire-Pwr", and the Major Override of "-Cndt" replaces "Wire" in the layer name, thus making it "E-Cndt-Pwr"...

Try to install MEPMatch plugin for AutoCAD MEP

https://apps.autodesk.com/MEP/en/Detail/Index?id=5015841499228582150&appLang=en&os=Win32_64

This one doing exactly what you asking.

@Anonymous

To have AutoCAD MEP draw conduit on the current layer do the following:

At the command line enter: AecDwgSetup and set the Layer Key Style to <Current Layer>.

See the attached.

I don't want to draw on current especially when using continues conduit
functionality. I want to define layers and after never think about changing
current layer. Plus with draw on current layer im loosing autodefinition of
default system layer. And i preferer to draw system on predefined via
layerkeys layer and after use some another script for quick renaming to
same layer with suffix added.
