Label Overrides not working properly?

MEP Common/Label/Add Label:

I've set up various label styles, via style manager, to separate my labels to different layers.
Based on the Label style overrides everything should work properly. But when adding new labels, they always come in on the main layer key settings. Any suggestions why this is occurring?

Thanks,

Hi Jody,

When you do a override like this you change the
layer for a certain visible part of the object (for a label there is only one
part that you can change) not the layer for the object itself. If you list the
label you will always see the layer that is defined by the layer key; but the
visible part of the label is on the layer that you have defined in your
override. If you turn off the override layer and REGEN the label should
disappear.

So you're saying that all labels only come in on 1 layer??
If that's the case that's not very useful.

For instance I'm separating my standard house power, UPS, and emergency power systems. When I label my electrical panels I would like the labels on separate layers depending on the system. With separate layers I am then able to isolate and view the UPS systems, emergency systems and house power systems.

As far as labels going to a system I have not been
able to find a way to break them apart depending on the system.  I have not
tried doing much with the electrical part of the program though.  In
mechanical I have been able to get the duct size labels to come in one one layer
while hex notes and all others come in on a different layer but I have not found
a way to get the labels to come in on seperate labels depending on if a system
is return, supply, exhaust, etc...

If there is a way to do it I would love to find out
also but I do not think it can be done.

Yes and No. If you do an override as you have
described the labels are "connected" to two layers; the one that the layer key
for labels specify and the one you specify in the override. If you turn off
the layer that is specified by the layer key (M-Anno-Label) all
labels will disappear. If you turn off the layer that you have defined in
the style override only labels using that style disappear (you have to
regen).

A better solution would be to be able to override
the layer key for labels per system; but that is unfortunately not possible
today:-(

Are they going to improve the placement and offset of labels as well. Currently trying to place the label in the spot you would like is very difficult with no ghosting. To be honest it's a pain to work with them the way they are currently set up. To get a label to where I actually want it may take 3-4 itterations of offset label.
