Invalid Enum Map String

I get this error invalid enum map string: IFCTC. Is there any kind of command that will check for errors in the catalog so I can correct this issue. When I'm using the equipment toolbox it pops this error up about 10 times before it actually loads the MvParts.

Thanks

Did you migrate a profile from an earlier release?  If so, your version may be pointing to the catalogs of an older version.  The profile > Options menu > content file paths may be pointing to older folders.

i went back and looked at it and I haven't upgraded anything. I am still using MEP 2010. However I just upgraded to 2013 MEP on Friday and it saved all my existing settings from 2010 but the error did not follow in the parts catalog. I still have and use 2010 and would like to resolve this issue in MEP2010. I wish there was an error check I could run to validate if there is a corrupt part in my catalog so I can remove it.

You can actually.  When you launch the program, it often asks to regen the catalog.  Use the catalog regen.  After a regen, it adds a "Validate" folder to your catalog folders.  Inside the validate folder will be a report.  In the report it will list any parts with errors.  You can then zero in on that part and address the error.

Validate folder would be found at:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\MEP 2012\enu\MEPContent\USI\MvParts

Substiture 2012 with 2010 for 2010 files in the path above.

I found the error in an electric heating coil in the MvParts catalog. I removed it and I have now lost my whole MvParts catalog...I went to my options tab and the path and catalog are still in the same spot but the mvparts catalog is empty when I try and open it to select a part.

Each individual part is made of a dwg, a bmp and an xml file, that has the same name as the part.  The overall mvpart catalog itself is an apc file.  Which file did you remove?  😉

I removed just the corrupt catalog part which was the electric heating coil...the  .dwg file and now when I go to to open the mvpart catalog there is no content. I'm loosing my hair over this one. The catalog is still on my C drive and it is still mapped correctly but it is not showing any catalog parts when I open it.

Stop.  Don't do anything.  I see the problem.  Close AutoCAD MEP.  In the last image, your All Installed Mvparts (US Imperial).apc file says 2 kb.  My file is 778kb.  You can also see in your image a .apc.bak file that is 700kb.  Rename that bak to remove the bak and delete the original 2 kb apc file.  Replace it with the 700kb file.  Then launch AutoCAD MEP and regen that catalog.  Question: When you deleted the mvpart dwg, did you also delete the bmp and xml files?  You should.  Otherwise it will see the xml and will be looking for a dwg.  When the dwg is missing it may corrupt the apc file.

I did this and it is still coming up with the same error. I remapped the directory to look at my MEP2012 catalog and I still get an error. I'm baffled. I think I will just dive into 2013...although I noticed when you save a 2013 drawing to 2010 its not a good thing. I tried reopening a drawing afterwards in 2010 and all my piping was uneditable. I even changed my proxygraphics.

<2013 IS A FILE FORMAT RELEASE>

This news needs to be spread around more.  Every 4th release historically has been a file format release and 2013 is no different.  That means that 2010 was a file format release.  And 2011 and 2012 were on the 2010 file format.  2011 and 2012 are backwards compatible with 2010.  You can save and open between any of those 3 releases, since they are on the same format.  2013 is the start of a new format.  Files saved in 2013 and then saved back to an earlier format cannot be edited in the prior format.  They become proxy objects.  You can Export to AutoCAD and then edit them as Core AutoCAD objects in an earlier release.

I have "messed" up my catalogs in the past and had to copy the catalog from a new installation.  You will of course have to regen the catalog to add any new parts that might have been created after the initial installation on the original machine.  This would be a last resort in my opinion but it definately works.  Just copy your original catalog to a safe place so you can copy over any custom fittings if need be.

This error message is because any MvPart built using 2012 or 2013 Content builder adds an IFCTC key to the .xml file for that part. The 2010 and 2011 see this and throw the error because it doesnt know what that is. If you get your apc file back up and running and are able to regenerate your catalogs, you can run that catalog check and find the parts with the problem or if you can remember which ones you might have opened/edited/created in 2012, then just go those parts, open the .xml files, remove the IFCTC key and save the .xml.

I build all my MvParts using 2011 so that this IFCTC line is not created and they work in all versions. This prevents the guys using 2011 and 2010 from receiving that error when i send them Equipment.
