HVAC Tags

We have created custom tags for HVAC design. They work fine on the computer where they were created. How do you share them over a network. On the computer where they are created the work fine when you drag them from the custom tab of the design center to a tool pallette.

If you drag them from the folder tab they only come in as blocks?

There are a couple ways to do this.  One way
is to move the entire tool palette to a network location.  The default
locations are:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Building Systems
2004\R16.0\enu\Support\WorkspaceCatalog(BuildingSystems)

C:\Documents and Settings\andyw\Application
Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Building Systems
2004\R16.0\enu\Support\ToolPalette\Extension

These paths will have to be updated in Options
after you move the files.  This will update everyone's tool palette each
time a change is made.  The drawback to this is everyone is forced to have
the same palettes.

A better option is to move all your content to the
network location.  When your tags are made or updated, everyone will have
access to them.  Each person will have to open design center and drag the
tag from the custom tab over to their tool palette.  Let me know if you
need help getting your content over to a network location if you choose this
route.

Andrew,
Thanks very much. Your second option makes the most sense for us. We presently have all our MVParts on the network and via the Building Systems catalogs tab in options we set the path to the network and this works fine.

We tried the following for our custom Tags:
- moved the custom HVAC tags onto the network
- Browsed to network location on the network in design center
- Dragged the tags onto a tool pallette.

The problem we have is once we drag the tag onto the tool pallete it acts like a block insert not a addscheduletag custom command.

When they are located on a local machine in the custom content tab of design center they work fine. Is there a way to have custom content look to the network drive instead of the local drive?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The path needs to be set in Options under "AEC
Content".  This will get the content to show in the "Custom" tab in
designcenter.  Drag your tags from here to your palette.
