How to add new Add Device Symbol?

I've created a new device style and can see it under device styles. But when I try to Add a New Device to my drawing I do not see the new device in my available symbols selection.
I've looked all through the help menus and can't find anything. Any suggestions?

I wish they made the help menus easier to find what your looking for. In this case I searched the main topic devices.

Thanks,

Any device added to current drawing is not shown in the add device dialogs. You will need to add it to the device content drawing for that located in the content folder.

I looked at that drawing, all the devices are drawn on top of each other, with no separate layers, just a big mess.
I just copied and edited the plain round junction box style which should use the same image. Is there a way to utilize or copy the existing plain round junction box to use as my new device.

Hopefully this is something they've enhanced in the new version coming out.

Devices in the current drawing are available for the deviceadd jig, you just
need to select as the library in the deviceadd jig (upper
left most box).

Add device:

Is there a way to keep the CURRENT DRAWING library the active library after closing the add device dialog box. The way it is now I have to reselect the current drawing library every time I come back in to add another device.

If I select any other library, those libraries will be active when I reopen the add device command.

Hi Jody -

Not without cheating

(command "_deviceadd" "_LI" "")

Take the above and create a toolbar button out of it.

Hi Jody -

The device styles that insert in an ABS drawing use
only the block definitions in the source drawing.  The jumbled symbols you
see in the drawing are the result of a conversion utility (that cleaned up
layers, linetypes, linetype scale, purge unnecessary blocks, etc).  You
delete them and draw anything you want in the source drawing as long as you do
not purge the block definitions.  So, if you want to make a new device
inside the source drawing, delete the garbage already inserted, draw your new
symbol(s), make them block definitions, and then run style manager -> devices
-> new and follow the UI.  Your new device will then be available to
insert in any drawing.  This process is described in Chapter 11 of the
Concepts Guide.

I hope this helps!

Jody -

If you need a device that often - why not add it to
the source dwgs in the style based content source drawings?  These are in
the folder specified on the Options-> Building Systems Catalogs tab ->
devices.  Copy your device using style manager from your current drawing to
the appropriate drawing (or new drawing).
