Hi,
I am having trouble getting back my ribbon and tool palettes back. They disappeared when my computer crashed.
I asked one of my coworkers to send me the mep.cuix file and loaded the menu on my computer.
I got the ribbon partially back, I am saying that because some of the icons are covered with question marks.
I still can't have my tool palettes, the entire tool palettes, and I am not sure how to get them back.
I did "CTRL+3" which is a toggle command for tool palettes, but nothing is happening. Can you tell me how to get them back?
I am using AutoCAD MEP 2010 and fresh re-install the software will be my last option.
Thank you,
Jason
This issue was inadvertantly caused by Update 1 (version 2.1). For some people, when we install the Update 1, the second time we launch the program, our Ribbon and Command line disappear, permanently. A clean reinstall will only work if you do not re-install the service pack. Clean re-install instructions attached, do not install update 1.
Our developers are very much aware of this issue and have been working towards a solution. We apologize for the inconvenience.
One other thing, the Ribbon and Command Line are not missing, their visibility is off. Like clicking the X to dismiss them. The command line still works to type in commands even though we do not see it. So at the command line (with your keyboard), type in COMMANDLINE. Then type in RIBBON. Both will reappear for the length of your session. They will disappear again once you exit AutoCAD MEP. While our developers work on a permanent fix, you could leave MEP up and running, or make a LISP that runs the two commands at startup. Hope this helps.
Joshua,
How about tool palettes? Are they affected by the Service Pack #1 too?
I was able to get the Ribbon back by copying mep.cuxi file from one of my coworkers, so it partially works, but I still can not get the tool palettes back.
if I do a "clean install", can I just downloaded AutoCAD MEP 2010 from Autodesk website and get the license number from the IT department? I believe my company have purchase quite a few licenses if I am not mistaken.
Thanks for your help,
Jason
I do not have tool palettes myself and so this is the first we have heard that migrated tool palettes could be effected. I will pass that information along to the developers.
Thanks you
UPDATE:
The cause was not the service pack. Instead, we found the cause to be with the desktop icons. In the desktop icon > properties > Target, the string of characters like /p "..." sets up the profile when you launch the program. When we set /w "..." to set a workspace, the ribbon, command line and others disappear. Remove the /w "..." from the target. launch the program. Type in RIBBON and COMMANDLINE to open them. Then save your current workspace. Next time you launch the program, the ribbon and others will open. Our developers are working on this issue. Hope this helps for now.
I do have a same problem as like as Jason, I am using MEP2011 and my computer got crash and I restored my system but i wasn't able to get
tool palettes back, after starting MEP I am able to see the Tool Palettes getting loded and then gets disappear in few second,
but i am not sure why when I click on tool palettes icon, program on command line writes " '_ToolPalettesClose" and when I click back tool palettes icon, on command line just says " '_ToolPalettes".
I am able to bring the Tool Palettes back when I switch the profile from mep to autocad, but doesn't stay on when I restart the MEP.
Please, help me to correct this problem.
best regards
Yaddy
