Fatal Error - Desired part does not exist - Mvparts one difuser is crashing

Hello,

I have ABS2004 and when I try to add an ar terminal the default terminal gives me an error message:

"Desired part does ot exist in size needed in current catalog and part does ot support custom sizing"

I click OK then I get the lovely crash message:

"FATAL ERROR unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Excepetion @40d376h"

ABS then wants to create a recovery file and then exits to Windows.

I have XP Pro with 128MB Nvidea card and 512 MB PC133 SDRAM.

I found the part in the Windows directory and all the pieces seem to be there. I can add any other diffuser I want.

What next?

Thanks in advance,

Mary

Hi Mary -

Do you know what part is trying to be added when you crashed? Do you get the
report dialog after you crash?

Hi,

I've found two situations where you could get a
Fatal Error here:

1. If the "Limit Search To:" in the Add MvParts
dialog is set to 0 (zero) and you switch between parts

2. If the "Limit Search To:" is set to some value
and you switch to a part that with this setting won't show any parts in the
dialog.

To work around this problem put in a higher value
(100) and try again.

If you can't access it in the dialog you can
change this value in the registry as well.

size=2>WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may
cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using
Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.

1. Start Regedit and in the left panel, browse
to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.0\ACAD-206:409\Profiles\Building
Systems\Dialogs\Common-AecbUiDlgPartCreate

("Building Systems" is the name of the currect
profile and could be something else in your case)

2.In the rigt window, double click on
"SearchLimit", choose decimal and put in a value for the search limit (e.g
100)

Hope this helps

Hi Mary -

Be sure to put the circumstances you describe in
the bug report.  You can do this by clicking the more information tab
before sending the report.  This will help the Q/A folks understand what is
happening.

Bug reports are pure democracy in action - the ones
with the most reports get fixed first.

Thank you for reporting this one!

Hey Jason,

the part is the first air terminal diffuser
18x18 generic square louver face ceiling diffuser rectangular neck us imperial.

The message I get when I select it before the crash is
"The desired part does not exist in the size needed in the current catalog (I did check to see if it was there and it was) and the part does not support custom sizing.

Any help would be great. I tried the increase search limit to no avail. :<

Hi Mary,

Could we try so delete the registry key that are
used to save the settings for the dialog?

This will ONLY delete the current settings for
the dialog (layout, position etc) and will not delete anything else from you
system.

1. Make sure that AutoCAD / ABS isn't
running

2. Start - Run - "Regedit"

3. Browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.0\ACAD-206:409\Profiles\Building

\Dialogs\AecbUiBldSrv40-MvPartAdd

("Building Systems" is the name of the profile
and could be something else on your computer, check in the 'Profiles' tab in the
Options dialog if you are not sure of the name of your profile)

4. Right click on "AecbUiBldSrv40-MvPartAdd" and
choose 'Rename' and append a 'xx' to the end of the name

5. Go down a bit to 'Common-AecbUiDlgPartCreate'
and do the same with this key
6. Start ABS again and see if this
helps
