Elbows shorting length of duct after placement

Hello ...

When I draw a run of retangular duct then I add an elbow, MEP will make the length of duct short then place the elbow at the end.  I want to know if there is a setting that can be changed to prevent this from happening.  When I need a certain number of duct lengths I dont want the elbow to cut the last duct length back to place the elbow because then I have to strech the duct to make it a full length and that just adds more work.  Let me know if there is a solution to this.

Thanks

What version of MEP are you running?  In 2012, when you are inserting ductwork, look for  the "JUSTIFICATION" tab in your properties pallette.  Change the justification to RIGHT or LEFT depnding on which direction you are turning.
