Ductwork Polar Tracking

Hi.

 

I'm trying to draw a duct perpendicular to a line but it's pointles...I turned the ortho on & off, polar off & on, even with any of these options ON it's useless! See pics attached.

 

Can anybody help me here please???

You have your compass turned on which will restrict your angles.  When routing duct make sure to look at the command line and you will see an option for Compass.  Just hit C to toggle it on/off.  You can also hit P for plane which will change the plane that the compass is in while routing which can help you turn your duct around obstacles in any plane.
