Hi John -
No solutions off the top of my head, but I do have some questions...
What is the path that you have specified for design center content. Are you
using design center in "custom" mode where you have access to schedule tags
etc, or just "exploring" other drawings and blocks? Do you generally have a
drive s mapped to the network path specified in the error message? This
"feels" like a network problem and could be a faulty cable, a misbehaving
NIC, or port on the hub.
Now, the fact that you have to uninstall and re-install is a different
problem. You should be able to modify some settings in your registry to
allow ABS to re-load after this happens. If you open your favorite registry
editor and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R15.0\ACAD-106:409\Profiles\Buil
ding Systems 3\Preferences\AecDCArch and change the path of the
CatalogRootPath string (if that doesn't work, please post back before
re-installing again and I'll see if I can find another key that might work)
to a string that you know you can access (like c:\Program Files). This will
temporarily break all of the "custom" content but you will be able to open
the application again.
