creating blocks

i am trying to create an block based mvpart.  i created my block and then i realized i needed to change somethings on it.  so i made my changes and now when i hit create a block and redifine it, it goes back to the original block.  i have purged my drawing, deleted my drawing, changed the name of my block, but it keeps going back to the original.  how can i update my block so i can make it an mvpart?  thank you for any help you could provide for me.

If I understand correctly, you defined a block based part using the Content Builder.  Then, after you finished making the part, you made changes to the block, and now want to update the part in the catalog?

If this is the case, then the block is already in the content file... so, to update it, you need to modify the block within content file .dwg  itself... which will be found in your catalog path location.  Assuming you are using the US Imperial content and default locations, your content file .dwg will be where you specified it... within the catalog of parts at:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\MEP 2012\enu\MEPContent\USI\MvParts

If you added the original part to a drawing, then modified the content file and tried to add an updated part you cannot.  The original definition is still in the file.  You can purge the original MvPart definition, or start a new drawing.   Then add the updated part to the drawing.  You must have the original part definition out of the file before adding any updated version.
