I have this pesky habit of putting tags and annotations on my drawings thinking I am on my text layer and not realizing that I somehow got on defpoints instead. Since defpoints defaults as white and looks the same as my text layer I don't catch my mistake until I plot and all those annotations don't print. Switching the tags/annotations from defpoints to another layer is easy and simple but I was wondering if there is a way to make the default defpoints color anything other than the default white.
I know I can change the color of defpoints on a drawing by drawing basis but is there a way to make this default so everytime I open AutoCAD it has the color I set it as?
Thanks in advance for any help or input.

Just change the color of the layer in your template file.
p.s. Autodesk has publicly said that defpoints and its interaction with layer zero is the biggest mistake they have ever made. Translation....... Never, never, never use Defpoints.
