Building Systems Book

Is there a training book or anything that can be purchased for this
software. The Concepts Guide that comes with it leaves much to be desired.

There is an ABS book written to describe the mechanical/HVAC portions of the
product written by David Driver and Mary Ellen Vazzana:
http://btobsearch.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?endeca=1&ean
=9781401834135. Watch wrapping!

Please let us know what problems you are finding with the concepts guide and
what we could do to improve it...

Thanks in advance!

What ever happened to the courseware that came out with R1 of the product
(Electrical and Mechanical)???

I would love to see that updated to the current release. Or even better -
the future ABS 2004 release. Any plans???

The book in the link isn't available anymore from Barnes and Noble and only
covers Building Mechanical 2, which correct me if I'm wrong, has been
significantly upgraded in Building Systems 3. (At least with regard to the
Parametric Part Builder).

The concepts guide I think covers what it is intended for...which seems to
me to be a general overview of the features of Building Systems. This would
be fine if the software were a little more user friendly. However, software
of this nature I believe deserves an in depth user guide explaining the full
functionality with practical examples. Also, I don't know about other
people, but I came into this release of the software totally uneducated. I
haven't had any prior experience with Arch Desktop so most of the concepts
were totally foreign to me. If this discussion group wasn't here I don't
know how I would have finished a couple projects on time. I know my biggest
problems are the Display Manager and the MVPart Builder. Even after all the
explanations on the Display Manager that have been posted to the discussion
group I still feel that I just get it to work through screwing up so many
times vs. actually understanding it. Also, most of the examples for the
MVPart Builder are very simple cases and I still would like an example of
changing a size of a given block-based part, such as an air-handling unit.
I haven't found that very easy.

Anyway, I don't mean to criticize because I do like the software and look
forward to the software becoming more user friendly as it evolves.

Hi

My book

Designing Mechanical Systems Using AutoDESK

Building Mechanical

has finally been published - there were some delays in production,
but Del Mar says it is now in the warehouse

This can be found at the Del Mar /Thompson Learning web site, Barns
and Noble or Amazon.

This book covers mechanical R3 Building Systems - and does cover the
parametric modeler.
