AutoCAD MEP 2012 copyclip pasteclip wblock stopped working on some drawings

I am using AutoCAD MEP 2012 with Service Pack 2 installed on a 64 bit Windows 7 computer.

I recently lost the ability to copyclip/pasteclip and insert wblocked objects from one drawing to another.  I can xref a wblocked drawing just fine.

When I copyclip/pasteclip or insert a wblocked object into a new drawing the object appears as you would expect.  However, when I copyclip/pasteclip into some (not all) of my existing drawings nothing appears.  When I insert a wblocked object into some (not all) of my existing drawings I see the object initially but it disappears once it is inserted.

The layers are not Off, Frozen or Locked and the Base and Insbase are 0,0,0 in both drawings.  I have also purged both drawings including the Reggaps.  I have also zoomed extents to search for the objects.

I am confused as to why this is a recent problem since I've been working with some of these drawings for over a year.

Any help is appreciated.

In this case this typically is due to file corruption.  The best way to correct this is to follow all 11 steps outlined in the below link to then clean up the file(s) in questions to generate a working copy of the said file and data.  Please let us know if this worked and/or if further assistance is needed form the community.  Thank you.

I wanted to check back in with you on this case and see how the clean up worked out.  Did this resolve this occurrence?  Please let us know within the community if further assistance is needed moving forward.  Thank you and we look forward to your reply.

I'm sure you are aware how funny AutoCAD MEP can be...  I tried everything mentioned in the link you provided except inserting the drawing into a new drawing.  I even restarted my computer a couple of times with no luck.  Here is the "funny" part.  When I opened the drawings the next day everything worked fine.  Not sure what actually fixed the problem but it is fixed.

Thanks for your assistance with this problem.

Thanks for the post. I had a similar problem with COPYBASE being uncooperative. Here's a twist... after auting / purging / saving as dxf / etc. my primary file that I assumed was the problem (no errors found there), it turned out that a small xref prepared by somebody else was corrupt. Replaced the corrupt file; COPYBASE problem seems to be resolved. Peace

"LRMartin ", Thank you for your post.  In this case all 11 steps will need to be performed on all files involved (XREFs included and outside of file and then reloaded).  This will then ensure all clean ups needed take place and generate a working/clean file for use.  If the issue still persist, the only other two occurrences I have seen in my years (again outside of corruption/miscommunication) is third party objects and then also migration of files through previously release programs/formats.  I hope this helps for future reference and other viewers of this post.

“Happypants”, Thank you for your update.  I am happy to read it is working and back up and running.
