Assuming it is in an XML file - MEP Type and SubType

When you make a parametric part... e.g. MvPart, Fitting, etc. You assign a Type and Subtype values... and apparently you can add Type(s) and Subtype(s) to the list.

From what I am seeing these are visible to the user in AutoCAD MEP in two places... in the Parametric Content Builder and in 'Select a part' dialog box.

(see the attached image)

Can someone show me where this is stored - that I may edit the list?

You cannot add types. That list is hard coded and cannot be changed. Subtypes however can be anything you want. As far as I know there is no list of subtypes. When a type is assigned to a part the subtype list is generated by inspecting the catalog files in realtime.

yep... looks right.

I just edited a specific Parametric Part xml file in XML Notepad and regenerated the catalogs.

The list of SubTypes changed acccordingly... so MEP must scan the xml files, as you say, 'in realtime', to build the list.

thanks for you help Keith!
