We are working on tweaking some electrical symbols in our electrical template. What we are doing is in the Fire Light Horn block. For some reason there was no "F" in the box for fire alarm well we were able to get the f in the box in our template but when we insert it into the drawing the text will not show. But if we go to the template drawing and load the devices style from that to the new drawing and then insert the device the text will show. So my true question is why will that "F" not show till we load it from The template. Or have they fixed this in a download that we can get.

What did you do to get the text to show up in the device definition? If the
text is added correctly it will show up when inserted either in a template
or without a template.

You should edit the device definition in the content drawing and add/modify
the view blocks with the way that you want the device to look.

Ok I think I am on the right track. We did not do anything in the device definition. What do we need to do in the device definiton box or better yet is there a site or book we can get to help us on this.

I've posted a "grey paper" on creating custom schematic symbols. A grey
paper is a white paper, but I'm not sure where I got it. I know I didn't
write it, and I'm not sure that it has been "approved" for release. Creating
schematic symbols isn't exactly the same as creating electrical devices, but
it is similar. I'll try to work on some more detailed instructions for
creating devices, but maybe the schematic symbol paper will give you enough
to get what you are looking for.

The paper is posted in the cf ng with the title "Creating a Schematic
Symbol".
