3 Phase panel schedule

I'm trying to get the default panel schedule to show MLO for the main CB size. I set the panel properties to be MLO but it still shows a numerical value for the CB size. If I manually edit the panel schedule, it will revert back whenever the panel schedule is updated. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I dont think anyone actually uses this
software.  Ive asked similar questions and they just sit here
unanswered.

Or are engineering people unwilling to share with
the community unlike the architecture community?

We engineering people share as well, it's jsu that we engineering people seem to have to wait on their principals to decide to use the software and get on board with the times. once we are in it, we need to come and ask the questions because we are so far behind. personally, i have had nothing to share but plenty to learn so far. perhaps one day i will be able to help a newbie!

You can't. The panel template contains a field
in the cell in question, that's why you cannot modify it permanently.
Unfortunately that field refers to panelboard mains, not a protecting
circuit breaker. Although, you can edit the panelboard template and taylor it to
your needs. If you want to play with it, open C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Autodesk\ACD-MEP 2009\enu\Styles\Imperial\Panel Schedule
Table Styles (US Imperial).dwg and the third template from the top is the one
you want to tackle with it. I suggest that go to an empty cell right to the
panel name, double click on it, and the text editor shall open. Right click
within the text editor window and select Insert Field. From the pull down menu
at the top of the Field window select AEC Panel and from the list below select
Panel Main Type. Don't bother with format, click OK to close dialog window and
OK to close text editor. Take a look if the text size and location seems all
right, correct as needed and save the drawing. Now try insert a panel and
depending on your ppanel property selection you may see MLO or MCB to the right
of the panel name.

But above all, SAVE ORIGINAL COPY of the
aforementioned template drawing before you make any attempt to make better with
it!

Of course, there is thousand ways to cook a rabbit,
so you may try your own way with the panels, having all AutoCAD resources at
your fingertips. But if after sleepless night and fingernails biten down to the
raw meat you find that something is hopelessly screwed up, just close the
drawing, delete it, and bring back the original one from safe repository, and
you are back on track.

Good luck to you good Sir and may Force be with
you.

When you say the default panel schedule, do you mean the 3-Phase Branch Panel Schedule on the Tool Palette? In the 2009 release, we changed the way we handle Panel Schedules and they are now based on AutoCAD Tables. As such, you need to update the underlying Tablestyle used for the panel schedule. We have published a whitepaper which explains how to do this in more detail (http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/white_paper_creating_custom_panel_schedules_with_autocad_mep.pdf).

For your particular question, you need to use the "Panel Main Type" field code. This field code will add either MLO or MCB (whichever you've selected) to the panel schedule. Once you've updated your original tablestyle to include the desired field, you'll need to update the schedule in your drawing (select it, right-click, select Update Panel Schedule). If the update doesn't work, you may need to delete the panel schedule from your drawing then purge the tablestyles to remove the old one.

Manually editing the schedule in your drawing will not resolve the issue. The panel schedules are generated from the tablestyle file from which it was created.

Hope that helps,
