Special MEP Pipe Style

I'd like to create 'Gripple' using an MEP Pipe object.

In Properties Palette typically you select the pipe size from the Nominal size drop down. However, it has been dictated that LUPREC is set to 3 (or 1/8").

Gripple diameter however is 3/64, 5/64, 1/8. 3/16 and 1/4... when LUPREC is set to 3... they show up as 0, 1/8, 1/8, 1/4 and 1/4.

In the definition of this 'Gripple' pipe definition... wouldn't it be possible to pull this from a list of strings, or #1 Gripple, #2 Gripple, #3 Gripple... etc.???

Hey Hutch...what the heck is a "gripple" and LUPREC?

Could you just use a list definition parameter for the predefined sizes, and then associate it with the pipe diameters?

"Gripple" is like stranded wire, or cable.

The System Variables LUNITS and LUPREC are the variables that store the current Length Type and Precision settings.

Just curious if you can use a structural member style to create your Gripple? Would that work better? It would still be adjustable for length, and you could attach it to a block.

I imagine you are using them for hangers?

Just create a grippleAdd LISP command that sets the precision, then starts the pipeAdd command, then after the command completion returns the precision to its normal value.

Not sure if that violates your LUPREC policy or not.
