Trouble converting files from autoCAD Mechanical 2010 to older versions

I am using a DWG created from a flat pattern I that made using a customers stp file. I used Inventor 2010 to create the flat pattern and dwg file. I then opened the dwg created in inventor with autoCAD Mechanical 2010 and attempted save the file as an older version that is compatiable with our waterjet tables (OMAX and Jet Edge). The problem I am running into is that when I attempt to open the file on the water jet tables or and older version of autoCAD (version 2006) the file opens up as a blank screen.

So far I have tried opening the DWG file from inventor with autoCAD Mech 2010 and then save it as an older version of dwg and dxf with no luck.

If anyone has had a similar issue and has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Right click on the flat pattern face and save as dwg or dxf.
