Hi Steve,
In Mechnical, use AMSSMODE or click the TOP-DN/BTM-UP button to toggle the
selection mode. When the selection mode is top-down, the selection sequence
begins at the topmost level (Assembly level) and ends with the elemental
geomery (circles, lines). In your case, you may make your selection mode to
TOP-DN to have a try.
Hope this helps.

I'm working in Mech '07 and cannot place structures in the drawing without
them acting as if they were exploded. I've done several tutorials to try
and figure this out. When I did the Wheel tutorial it instructs you to
cycle through the tooltip until folder 1:1 is shown. I cannot do that
either. When I try to cycle to identify a folder or instance I get line,
arc, etc. and specific to the line or arc I happen to select. Is there a
setting which keeps structures together like a block when inserted/selected?
The way I'm using it now, is to left click on the part in the browser and
choosing 'select'. This is cumbersome when there are 200+ components in the
drawing, and you cannot click on the one you are going to break the link to
and modify, and have the tooltip tell you what instance it is. I have to
randomly click in the browser and try to "zone" in on the part by process of
elimination.
Please tell me that this is a simple settings problem!!!
