Ordinate dimensioning

I have just installed AutoCAD Mechanical 2014 and am trying to apply ordinate dimensioning. I am use to clicking on the command, selecting the point of origin, and then picking the multiple points I want to dimension and then drag them all out the same distance. How do I do that in this program? I select ordinate dimension and it doesn't ask me where I want my origin point, and I can only pick one point and then have to start the command over. That is not efficient at all. Can someone please tell me there is a better way?

Before selecting the origin point, you need to select the object, Steps below.

1. AMAUTODIM > Ordinate tab > Make the required settings > OK
2. Select the object > Press Enter
3. Select the first origin of dimension and place the dimension.
4. Continue to pick mulitple points manually on the object for more dimensions.
