Migrate Custom Settings does nothing

Hi,  I am currently setting up our AutoCAD 2013.  I have exported the AutoCAD settings using migrate custom settings.  When importing the custom settings nothing happens.  nothing.

Any ideas to get the Zip file to work?  When I open the zip file it seems to be populated.

Hi,

Just check with you a few things to understand your issue better.

  • Are you using AutoCAD 2013 not AutoCAD Mechanical 2013 for migrating custom settings?
  • What custom settings are you trying to migrate?
  • From which product and version was the custom settings exported?
Thanks.

Tried it from another machine it worked fine.

Bad install or something.

I think you can try it again in the machine where you have this problem.

First, Reset settings to default from start menu->All programs->Autodesk->AutoCAD 2013. Backup the custom settings if you have any when it is prompted. Then try to use the default AutoCAD and do the import settings again. Hope it helps.

Thanks.

We have a similar problem.

After setting up their profile the way they want it most of our designers export their settings.  Some even import them from other people for time savings and consistency.

If we later go back and change any of the settings and try to export them again we get the following message:

"An error occured during the export process. Please try again.

ERROR: There was an error generating the XML document."

The error is always the same.  You can try until you are blue in the face with no results.

Regards,

Mark
