Layer VPColour not working on solid when Hide command given

I hope that I have simply missed a setting somewhere - here is my problem:

Layer VPColour does not work properly - does not work on 3D solids when the Hide command is given.

My setting - Colour = bylayer

TEST:
make 3D solid in model space (model tab),
go to layout 1
create a Viewport, go into the viewport and zoom to view the 3D solid,
set VPColour in new viewport to different colour to the normal layer colour that the 3D solid was created on,
while in the active Viewport, run "hide"

VP Colour is ignored in the "Hide" and main layer colour is used.

This problem has existed in many releases now. Is it going to be fixed? - or is there a setting I have missed. This would be a valuable feature for 3D design if it worked.

Any ideas on how to fix?
