Install 32 bit AutoCAD Mechanical on 64 bit Windows

The installation of 32 bit AutoCAD Mechanical on a 64 bit version of Windows is not supported by Autodesk.

But some of you may have 3rd party software that will not install on a 64 bit installation of AutoCAD Mechanical. The process below will allow you to create a 32 bit installation on 64 bit Windows.

Step 1

Copy your installation files from the DVD to a directory on your hard drive.

Step 2

Download "Windows Server 2003 R2 Platform SDK Full Download" from Microsoft.com/downloads. For Vista download "Windows Server 2008 Platform SDK Full Download"

Step 3

Install downloaded software.

Step 4

Under "Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\(Version)\Bin" click on Orca.msi

Step 5

Start Orca (From Start Menu)

Step 6

Open \ACADM\x86\acad.msi (installation files on Hard Drive)

Step 7

Go to "installexecutesequence" table and delete "CheckFor64bitOS" condition

Go to "launchcondition" table and edit "VersionNT>=500 AND NOT VersionNT64" to "VersionNT>=500"

Step 8

Save acad.msi file.

Step 9

Open Setup.ini (Using Notepad) in installation root directory.

Delete "PLATFORM=NATIVE" in two locations: "Platform Requirement" & "ACM Integration"

Save Setup.ini file

Step 10

Open Setup.ini (using Notepad) in ACADM\x86\Setup

Delete "PLATFORM=NATIVE" in two locations: "ACAD" & "ACADM"

Save Setup.ini file

INSTALLATION CHANGES ARE NOW COMPLETE. Install 32 bit patches to update the product after application installation.
