The installation of 32 bit AutoCAD Mechanical on a 64 bit version of Windows is not supported by Autodesk.
But some of you may have 3rd party software that will not install on a 64 bit installation of AutoCAD Mechanical. The process below will allow you to create a 32 bit installation on 64 bit Windows.
Step 1
Copy your installation files from the DVD to a directory on your hard drive.
Step 2
Download "Windows Server 2003 R2 Platform SDK Full Download" from Microsoft.com/downloads. For Vista download "Windows Server 2008 Platform SDK Full Download"
Step 3
Install downloaded software.
Step 4
Under "Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\(Version)\Bin" click on Orca.msi
Step 5
Start Orca (From Start Menu)
Step 6
Open \ACADM\x86\acad.msi (installation files on Hard Drive)
Step 7
Go to "installexecutesequence" table and delete "CheckFor64bitOS" condition
Go to "launchcondition" table and edit "VersionNT>=500 AND NOT VersionNT64" to "VersionNT>=500"
Step 8
Save acad.msi file.
Step 9
Open Setup.ini (Using Notepad) in installation root directory.
Delete "PLATFORM=NATIVE" in two locations: "Platform Requirement" & "ACM Integration"
Save Setup.ini file
Step 10
Open Setup.ini (using Notepad) in ACADM\x86\Setup
Delete "PLATFORM=NATIVE" in two locations: "ACAD" & "ACADM"
Save Setup.ini file
INSTALLATION CHANGES ARE NOW COMPLETE. Install 32 bit patches to update the product after application installation.
