If you are using AutoCAD Mechanical, then there is a more efficient way to
insert title/border. You can also modify and scale the title/border, and
edit title block attributes.
You can create your customised border and title block drawings based on
border and title block template drawings provided in "
directory>\Acadm\Gen\DWG\Format" and "
directory>\Acadm\Gen\DWG\Title" respectively. These template drawings are
provided for different paper sizes in different standards. To insert
customised title/border, run AMOPTIONS, select AM:Standards tab and click on
"Drawing Sheet". In "Drawing Sheet" properties dialog, click on "Additional"
button to specify your customised border dwg file in "Default Paper Format",
and specify your customised title block dwg file in "Default Title Block".
Pls refer to help file for detail in customising drawing border and title
block in AutoCAD Mechanical.
To insert title/border in layout, run AMTITLE command (or go to Annotate ->
Drawing Title/Revisions -> Drawing Title/Borders...). In "Drawing Borders
with Title Block" dialog, the "Paper Format" and "Title Block" edit boxes
should display your selected customised border and title block respectively.
Click on "OK" button, and select same paper size in "Page Setup Manager" (if
necessary). A preview of title/border will be shown and you can specify
insertion point. Pls note that to fit title/border exactly in layout with
the same paper size, click the insertion point at lower left corner of paper
in layout.

Hi All,
I m using AutoCAD 2004. I would like to insert custom block (i mean
boarder with some title block of mine...etc) into paper space or layout1 of
my drawing. Can anybody tell me the procedure?
What I am doing is
1.from menu ' insert----layout--- layout from template' . In that
case it is loading only template details and not importing any model space
content.
2. from menu ' insert---layout---layout wizard '. In this case the
wizard is asking initially to fill details such as - printer, paper size,
orientation, title block and viewport specification...etc. In title block
option there 2 options - block and x ref are there. but those r disabled in
my system. so i cannot insert my border as block, even.
so can anybody of you com eout with solution and help me out.
Thanks&Regards,
Krishna Pavan.
