Editing Mechanical Desktop drawings

I am trying to open a Autocad or Autocad Mechanical file and saving this as another file to reuse it in another project. But after opening it in Autocad Mechanical 2014 I receive this error : 

You cannot edit Autodesk Mechanical Desktop drawings in Autocad Mechanical.

All AutoCAD Mechanical commands, including SAVE are now disabled.

The drawing I have opened is not a MDT file, I created the file in 2011 years after I have been any near any MDT. 

It only consist of 2D data.

I managed to save the file using "vanilla" Autocad. Maybe not solved, but for me it is now ok.
