CUI file problems

We are having alot of problems in 2006 with users trying to update their toolbars to match what they had in 2005. For one the new interface is a pain when trying to create a custom toolbar, the old way was much easier, secondly for more than half of our users one the toolbars are created/edited and then the customize toolbar command is used an error comes up stating that the "The CUI file you are attempting to open is invalid. Select a different CUI file and try again." Does anyone have a cure for this?

Sorry to say but I think your on borrowed time with yur CUI files, they will fail to load eventaully (even though you havent modified anything),
2006 has quite possibly the most, the biggest, and the most ridiculous bugs of any autocad release to date. Good Luck

Finally got around to MDT today, same issue after 3 uninstall/reinstalls. Error even appeared on program open after 3rd reinstall. I was going to try it in Mechanical, but I guess that's going to garner the same results. Is it safe to assume there is no fix for this yet? Guess that's what happens when you try to fix that which ain't broke.....

We had the same problem with trying to customize the toolbars using the new and NOT improved CUI. Why is it that autodesk does not test these things first? Is there going to be a service pack released soon? This costs time and money and when we are paying for subscription we should get a discount for putting up with these problems.

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback to the News Group. Just to give you some history we
did a lot of testing of CUI and also had a lot of BETA Sites testing it.
This issue did not show up until after we shipped. Also I see it mostly in
Mechanical group more then the AutoCAD group. We are still trying to
reproduce this here at Autodesk but it works for us. Also if you have CUI
files that show this message can you please ZIP them up and send them to me.
bud@autodesk.com. We are looking at a fix but because we can not reproduce
this we really want to test against menus that show the error.

Thanks for taking the time to send us your files.

Is this being worked on yet? Or is there a solution yet? It is causing big problems here.

Jagz,

Have you read the "AutoDesk / CUI problems" thread in this NG from earlier
this week? Bud described what they've done and what they're doing to try to
identify the issue. Also, have you followed the CUI discussions in the
"autodesk.autocad.customization" discussion group? Again, Bud and the
AutoCAD team have been very responsive to these issues. Mainly Bud is
asking for the steps to reproduce the problem.

I am having this problem as well. I just loaded 2006 and I am trying to customize the interface. EVERY time I save the customized file it seems ok. When I try and open it again to customize I get an error message that says.

The CUI file you are attempting to open is invalid. Select a different CUI file and try again. I am finding this very frustrating and really want a fix.

Okay, so now where do I save it to? And are there special instructions for using it? More help would be great for those of us who are not so technically savvy. Thanks!
