You will need AutoCAD Mechanical at a minimum, MDT or Inventor will
generate NURBS curves which will be more accurate. Can you zip and post
the file (under 1.5MB) here?

Thanks,

I'm not positive but I think free Inventor Fusion will do the conversion http://labs.autodesk.com

The file size limit is much larger over here http://www.augi.com

This program is really helpful and easy to use: http://www.gidhome.com/

You can download the evaluation version for free, but geometry is limited to 25 surfaces and meshes are limited to 1000 nodes.

It worked perfectly for me.

Cheers.

Hi,

Can anyone help me to transform a .DWG file in IGES please?

I am working in Autocad 2000. A few months ago, I was able to open my drawing with Mechanical Desktop and export it as an IGES file. Why is not working any more I don't know.

Instead of pop up window asking me for the name and path for saving, now he said that IGES processing complete but I can found 2 files: one has an .xlo extension that I never heard of and one has no extension at all.

I've sent those 2 files to vacuum forming people assuming that they can do something but it is not working.

Thank you in advance for your time and help

Lucia

This is a Mechanical Desktop file, not an AutoCAD Mechanical file.

Someone would need MDT and Inventor to translate.

I recommend you use the ACISOUT command and then post the results over in the Inventor forum for translation to IGES.

try the attached file.
