Combine Inventor parts to AutoCAD drawings

I have an assembly in Inventor 2013 that I need to place in a pre-existing AutoCAD drawing. The assembly is an extension for a piece in the AutoCAD drawing. I've tried converting the idw to dwg and then inserting it but that isn't working. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you have inventor fusion installed, you should be able to open both files from AutoCAD to Inventor and vise versa. You can either open and combine them in both programs. Fusion acts as a bridge between AutoCAD and Inventor. I have seen AutoCAD model edited in fusion and saved as Inventor. Opened in Inventor and edit using Inventor editing features then opened it again in Fusion, do some editing if you'd like and save it back to AutoCAD and still be able to perform AutoCAD 3D editing features as if you did all your editing in AutoCAD.
