Autocad 2013 Freezing

Low Down:

Windows XP on a Dell Laptop 2GB RAM

Autodesk Inventor Pro w/ Mechanical CAD (Network License)

Problem:

CAD freezes up but not completely. You can use the icon buttons, but you cannot type in commmands, hot keys or switch tabs between layouts.

Any ideas?

You're probably running at the bare minimum system requirements which is going to affect how well the software responds.  I suggest installing it on a newer machine with more RAM and preferably 64-bit.

The following link (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534) will bring you to the Autodesk Certified Hardware website.  Here you can confirm that you are using a system that is sufficient to run the program in question.

May I also suggest that you preform a repair of your program.  This can be done by

  • opening the Control Panel
  • Uninstall Programs
  • Click on AutoCAD Mechanical 2013
  • Click "Uninstall/Change"
  • Click "Repair or Reinstall" in the AutoCAD Mechanical 2013 dialog box
  • Make sure the "Repair" option is highlighted under the "Repair or reinstall AutoCAD Mechanical 2013:" header and click "Repair"

If this solution is sufficient, please check "Accept as Solution"
