Aligning paperspace object with ms object

Following example for simplicity...
a) In modelspace: 3 inch square with vertical centerline
b) In paperspace: rectangle (x=3, y=1) with vertical centerline.

I want to align the two centerlines. There's got to be a better way than how I am doing it???
