where is the guide for how to write expression in annotation templates???

Where is the help page that lists all the rules and operators for writing an expression in a map template???  I saw it no where in the so called help files.  I need to take an .area property and truncate the number of decimal places and multiply by a factor and add static text at the end.  sidenote.  why can't there be a chapter in the helpfile like a quick ref card that has all the rules for forming expressions in the various functions of Map3D?

 one sentance in the help file: "The expression chooser uses a combo of lisp and ade
syntax. " would have been enough.
