Project Artoo for AutoCAD Map 3D Available on Autodesk Labs

Project Artoo for AutoCADĀ® Map 3D 2013 software is a free* technology preview that helps you perform geometry cleanup operations on geospatial data stores to improve the quality and accuracy of your geospatial data.

Please trry it and reply to this thread. There is also a thraed in the Civil 3D forum for AutoCAD Civil 3D users who also use AutoCAD Map 3D.

Great idea - I have several clients moving data bak and forth in Map 3D in order to do drawing cleanup. This will help a great deal.

On the Zero Length Objects. I have an attached SHP file with multiple vertices at one location. Standard DWG cleanup will fix this on an AutoCAD Pline - but this does not seem to be the case here. I'm attaching a sample SHP file for you to test.

After installed the Artoo x64, I cann't find the "new Geospatial Cleanup icon" on Tools tab.

Is there other method to open it?

Thanks

At the command line type:

MAPGISCLEAN

Hi, where can I get the available clean operation list for every kind of data source and layer? It seems there are some operations valid for line layers but no for polygon layers. Exists that list?

Thanks

Thank you for your answer. I will wait for.

As you've found out, not all cleanup operations will work on all data sources.  In fact, some cleanup operations will only work on certain geometry types. Below is a list of available cleanup operations by geometry type:

For Lines:

  • Delete Duplicates
  • Break Crossing Objects
  • Extend Undershoots
  • Apparent Intersection
  • Snap Clustered Nodes
  • Zero Length Objects
  • Erase Dangling Objects
  • Erase Short Objects
  • Dissolve Pseudo Nodes
  • Simplify Objects
  • Weed Polylines

For Polygons:

  • Sliver Polygon Removal
  • Reform Polygons

For Points:

  • Correct Duplicate Points

I have updated the technology preview so it is available in 13 languages - not just English.

Dear mr. sheppard,

Is there a command to Clean Up a Feature Objects in AutoCAD MAP 3D 2013 (i.e. Geospatial Clean Up)?

If not, is there any other possibility to Clean Up a Feature Objects (Break crossing)?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Tahir Mavric

You could use standard clean up tools if the FDO round tripping was seamless. (i.e. Dynamically dumped FDO attributes to object data for editing).
Imagine this business case:
You have a dwg with new roads and rivers to add to your SDF.
You clean up the layers traditionally.
You push ask that data directly to the sdf since the layer and object data is already mapped.

You refresh your Sdf and the data is
there.

If you miss something, it checks out back into dwg objects with object data, and you can re-clean with clean up tools.

Why re-invent the wheel, when all we need a fixed FDO dwg integration?

Dear gluckett,

Thank you for yout answer.

You example does not reflect my problem properly.

We work with industry model data (feature objects) and I would like to check a Area Topology. When Topology reports an error (that the lines intersect), than I would like to break it on intersection.

I tried to break features lines with drawing Clean Up and BREAK commamd, but didn't make any effect.

Is it possible to use COGO tools, to break feature lines?

Has anyone had a problem with this issue before?

Thanks in advance.

Tahir

Hello, okay?

I wonder if the project Artoo was incorporated in version AutoCAD MAP 3D 2014.
