We have a large shp file of parcels for our county. I can view them with MAPWSPACE, but how do I extract the features I want to be polylines?
I don't care about feature data, I just need some of the polylines.
Thanks,

You can select the layer in the task pane, then click TOOLS, then click SAVE CURRENT MAP TO DWG...
(works for me)
as an alternative mathod, data connect to the sh, add to map with query what you want to go to polylines, display manager, right click, export to sdf and mapimport the sdf to plines.

It took me a while but I did get it figure it out.
Right click | Change to Polyline would be a lot easier and quicker, but at least there is a way.

There is another method, which is done in two steps using right click:
Step 1: click on all polylines from SHP you need, in context menu on right mouse click choose “Check out Features”.
Step 2: click on ONE of these objects, in context menu click “Extract Geometry from Feature” and you will get the mpolygon of the object. In general this will be on layer 0.
When the command was used once, you can extract more polylines together. In context menu choose “MAPExtractFeatureGeometry” and select all polylines at the same time. If you want to have closed polylines explode the mpolygons.
Even better.
Thanks you very much!!

The simple wway that has been there for years is do a map import with a spatical area selection, or if you do not know what spatial selection to use inport all then erase what you do not need. forget about the data connect just do it. .
