place a BLOCK in the xyz coord of a POINT

Is it possible to place a BLOCK in the xyz coord of a POINT?
Which is the correct query?

This is my problem:
I've got to Z place a lot of blocks representing trees. Their elevation is
zero, now.
Above these blocks I've got points placed in the correct Z position (where
the blocks must placed).
How can I do?

I tried a lot of queries but without results.
I'm thinking to create a buffer around the points, intersect the points with
the buffer and catch the elevation object data, create a plygonal topology
with the blocks....
I think there's a shortest way using Map.
Thanks in advance
Paolo

If I understand correctly

You have a point at an x,y,z
You would like to have a block at this location..

One way I do this is:

export points as a shape file.
open a new drawing
paste your desired block into the new drawing
delete the block the block from the new empty drawing (you only need the
definition)
import the shape file into an empty drawing and tell map to use the block on
the point. (it is available in the shape file import process)
You now have a block at the x,y,z where the point location in the new
drawing.
once everything looks good you can insert the new drawing into the orginal
as a block and explode.

Thank you very much!
It was the right input.
I did something similar:
I exported x,y,z and block attributes (so I can query them) in shp format. I
drapped them on a DEM and exported in 3D shape file.
and then I followed your suggest..

This was the missing piece!
Thanks for all
Paolo

hi there
on this subject - i did just the same thing - with a SHP file - but i have important data attached to these points. If i insert them as my pre-defined block (a circle), it's fine, but once i explode them, all the attached data is lost!! i am left with a circle.
MY goal is to make these points into circles so i can fill them and make them more visible - points are too fine.
help!

Bobbin, With out knowing what version of Map you are using I would suggest make the block "Visible" to start with then import the data. If you have the current versions of AutoCAD Map then use RefEdit to change the block in the dwg.
