Opening drawings in Background

most times i have to work on multiple drawings.  i open these drawings all at once, but due to their size, it takes some time to open all the files.  It would be nice if autocad would stay in the background while opening rather than forcing itself to be the focused programs after each file is opened.  this really destroys the ability to multitask and honestly just seems arrogant at this point... sorry autodesk- but your program ain't what it use to be since 2008

Well, if you're running a 32-bit Windows, there's a limited usability of the multithreading, indeed.

But if you run a x64 operating system, and you have 8 GB Ram or more, the overall performance shouldn't be affected by the number of opened applications.

Try the following steps:

  1. in Autocad, open a blank drawing
  2. set the SDI variable to ZERO
  3. close the empty drawing, without saving
  4. File => Open
  5. pressing the CTRL key, select all the drawings you wanna load, OK
  6. on the keyboard, press the WIN key toggling the TAB key

Are now the other applications available, or nothing changed..?

Ok, so please do the steps from 4 to 6, and report what happened, thx.
